THE PROGRAM
A focused path toward advanced hand therapy practice.
The Hand Center of Nevada Hand Therapy Fellowship & Mentorship Program is a 24-month, full-time post-professional program. It combines direct patient care, one-on-one mentorship, physician collaboration, surgical observation and structured education.
Build the knowledge, clinical reasoning and hands-on skills to evaluate and manage a wide range of upper-extremity diagnoses while preparing for the Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) examination.

LEARN THROUGH PRACTICE
An immersive, collaborative learning experience.
01 · CLINICAL MENTORSHIP
Develop your clinical judgment.
Work directly with Certified Hand Therapists through one-on-one mentorship and supervised clinical practice. Connect evaluation findings, treatment planning and patient progress with evidence-based care.
02 · PHYSICIAN & SURGICAL OBSERVATION
See the full continuum of care.
Observe physician clinics and surgical procedures when appropriate and authorized. Build a deeper understanding of how medical and surgical decisions inform upper-extremity rehabilitation.
03 · WEEKLY EDUCATION
Bring learning into the clinic.
Weekly didactic sessions combine lectures, case reviews and evidence-based practice discussions. Coursework, testing and competency assessments help turn knowledge into confident clinical decisions.
PROGRAM STRUCTURE
A typical week, built around your development.
Over two years, clinical practice and structured education work together. Mentorship connects your coursework with the patients you see and the decisions you make.
32+ hours of direct patient care
Treat patients in a specialized upper-extremity setting with one-on-one mentorship and supervised practice.
Approximately 5 hours of education
Participate in coursework, competency assessments, testing and case-study discussions.
Observation opportunities
Physician clinic and surgical observation are coordinated when appropriate and authorized. The weekly mix varies with clinical and educational needs.
EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT

Continuing education
HCON provides tuition assistance for up to two comprehensive virtual continuing education courses related to hand therapy.
CHT preparation & examination support
The curriculum supports preparation for the Certified Hand Therapist examination, and HCON covers the CHT examination application fee.
Certification is awarded through the certifying body’s eligibility and examination process.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Fellows are employed by the Hand Center of Nevada and receive a training stipend while maintaining full employee benefits throughout the fellowship.
